古い本であるが、日本の思考様式を的確に捉えている。読者は３章、４章を読まれてから１章、２章へと進むことを勧める。
日本の思想が「タコツボ型」であり、西欧の「ササラ型」とは異なっていることが、日本資本主義に於いては重要な意味を持っている。それが、「である」ことを「する」こと（「権威」と「権力」の関係に似ているが）の日本に於ける位置と相互に関係し合って日本型の思考を形作っている。
歴史から切り離された思考は、永続性をその本質とする資本にとっては正当な形式であり、それを日本に於いて社会組織化するためには「である」意識が必要であった。「である」民主主義が、福祉国家あるいはBiopoliticsを成り立たせているのである。
思考は歴史を取り戻さなければならない。個人も歴史の中で存在するのである。自分が今「何々である」のは歴史に於いてなのだ。歴史の中の自分が見えたとき、自分が「する」ことの意味が分かる。それが階級意識である。

The fact that the Japanese idea is "octopus trap type" and different from the "Sasara type" in Western Europe has an important meaning in Japanese capitalism. It is interrelated with the position of "doing" to "do" (similar to the relationship between "authority" and "power") in Japan, forming a Japanese-style thinking. ..
Thinking separated from history is a legitimate form for capital whose essence is permanence, and in order to socially organize it in Japan, it was necessary to have a consciousness of being. Democracy that is "is" makes up a welfare state or biopolitics.
Thinking must regain history. Individuals also exist in history. It is in history that I am "what" now. When you see yourself in history, you know what you mean by "doing". That is class consciousness.

読む本がなかったわけではない。読みたくて買ったままの本が当時も山のように有ったはずだ。
本がありすぎるための欲求不満。消化しきれない情報に囲まれた焦燥感、枯渇感。本がない幸福。
