フーコーから何を引き出すか、フーコーをどのように読み込むか、それは人それぞれである。それだけの深みをフーコーの著作は持っている。
この本は、かなり深いフーコー解釈だと思う。フーコー権力論としては第１級品であろう。「性の歴史」２巻、３巻に触れられていないのは残念だが、第１巻の読みとしてはすばらしい。彼の翻訳でもう一度読み直したいと思わせる。
ただ、一つ欠けているように思えるのは、フーコーを読む上での問題意識の設定である。マルクス主義的な解釈をしないのはそれはそれとしても、なぜフーコーの権力論を読み込むのかが判然としない。単なる学問的興味なら、これ以上の読みは無意味であろう。現実とどのように結びつけるか、現代社会をどのように解釈し、変革の方向性を持つかが欠けているように思える。それがないからこそ、彼のように楽観的に読めるのかもしれないが。

What to draw from Foucault and how to read Foucault is up to each person. Foucault's writings have that much depth.
I think this book is a fairly deep Foucault interpretation. Foucault's theory of power would be a first-class product. It's a pity that Volumes 2 and 3 of "History of Sex" are not mentioned, but it is a wonderful reading for Volume 1. His translation makes me want to read it again.
However, one thing that seems to be missing is the setting of problem awareness when reading Foucault. Even so, it is not clear why Foucault's theory of power is read without a Marxist interpretation. For mere academic interest, further reading would be meaningless. It seems that there is a lack of how to connect with reality, how to interpret modern society, and how to have a direction of change. It may be as optimistic as he does because it doesn't exist.
