John Lennonの特集を見てから、関連雑誌を読んだり、The Beatlesのアルバムを聞き直したりしています。おかげでThe Beatlesを聞き始めてから半世紀、恥ずかしながらわからなかったJohnとPaulの声が大分聞き分けられるようになったようです(^_^;)（彼女に笑われたことがあった）。わからないのは私が人間嫌いのせいかなと思ってAPD的要素まで考えたのですが、きっと聞き始めた頃にまともなオーディオがなかったせいと、声を聞き分ける気がなかったのでしょうね（英語もわからなかった。それは今も同じ）。
ABBEY ROADはLPも持っているし、CDも持っています。去年、50周年ということで、新たなマスタリングで発売されました。2018年には『THE BEATLES (White album)』、2017年には『SGT. PEPPER'S LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND』の５０周年記念盤が発売されました。
どれもVINYL盤（アナログレコード）がありますがどうなんでしょうね。たしかに、今は「CDはレコードより音がいい」という嘘はバレていますが、デジタル処理した（と思う）ものをアナログレコードにする意味があるのかどうか・・・。
また、『SGT.・・・』は4Trackレコーダーで録音されています。だからすごいのです（当時もっとトラック数の多いレコーダーが有ったのに、4Trackしか使わせてもらえなかった、とジョンが言っていたと思う）。それをミキシングし直すというのはどうなのかな。
私は当時ビートルズがOKを出したLPが「本物」の作品のような気がします。リマスター盤は別の作品です。
私は、当時のLPで育ったので（LPも英米日でカッティングが違う）、「ここで、ここから、こういう音がする」というのが大体わかります。だから、ちょっとミキシングが違ってもわかります。
未発表テイクは、魅力的です。未発表曲は特に。まだまだ未発表テープが沢山あるんでしょうね。昔は「海賊版」を買い漁って、未発表テイクを集めたものです。それはそれで楽しかったのですが、今は別テイクを聞くと、「アレっ？」と違和感を感じます。(^_^;)

やっぱり、『SGT.・・・』以降が私にはビートルズです。そこから聞き始めたからでもあります。『REVOLVER』は改めてすごいと思いました。当時こんな音作りをしていたバンドはないでしょう。音だけじゃなく『RUBBER SOUL』から純粋な恋愛ソングが減ります。例えば『RUBBER SOUL』の『THE WORD』は「Love」を歌っているジョンの曲ですが、ソロの名曲『LOVE』につながるもので、単純に「女性を愛する」ということをすでに超えていると思います。『REVOLVER』は『Taxman』（ジョージの曲）から始まります。これは明らかに恋愛ソングではありません。当時のビートルズファンは度肝を抜かれたのではないでしょうか。その他、大半が恋愛ソングではありません。
この２作はまだツアーを行っている時期でもあるのですが、この作品を作る時点でもうツアーを止めることになったと思います。コンサートでは再現できないほどにビートルズの音楽性が発展してしまっているからです。
また、この時期は「ステレオ」が進展した時期でもあります。でも、まだステレオを再生できるプレーヤーは普及していなかったし、テレビはもちろんのこと主たる音楽配信であるラジオはモノラルでした。だから、ジョージ・マーティン（プロデューサー）はステレオではなくてモノラルで聴いて良く聞こえるようなカッティングをしたそうです（当時のレコードには「大きな」文字で「ステレオ」と書いてありました）。
そして、モノラルで発売されていたビートルズのレコードも「（疑似）ステレオ化」して発売されました。『REVOLVER』のステレオの扱いも画期的ですが、それが『SGT.・・・』で大きく開花することになります。今は様々なエフェクターがありますが、「ステレオ」の使い方は『SGT.・・・』で決まったと思います。
その後、4chレコードというのが発売されたのをご存知でしょうか。前後左右に4つのスピーカーを配置して、立体的な音響にするものです。1つの溝に4Trackが刻まれているのです。普及しませんでした。再生できるプレーヤーが高価だったというのが一番の原因でしょうが、決定的な間違いがあったと思います。それは「人間の耳は2つ」ということです。2つの耳で前後左右の音を聞き取り、音場もわかるのです。
4chの後に、「バイノーラル」という方式が現れました。人間の顔の形をしたものの耳の部分にマイクを付けて録音するものです。今では「環境音（ASMR）」として復活していますね。
デスクトップPCでは「5.1ch」というのが普及していたんだけど、今はどうなんだろう？
最近、Bluetoothのスピーカーを探したら、「ステレオ」っていう表示がないんですよね。つまり、「モノラル」。またモノラルに戻ったようです。まあ、スマホでmp3で音楽を聞くのが主流だから、今の若い人はあまりこだわらないのかもしれないですね。

Unpublished takes are fascinating. Especially unreleased songs. I think there are still many unreleased tapes. In the old days, I bought "pirated editions" and collected unpublished takes. That was fun, but now when I hear another take, I feel a sense of discomfort. (^ _ ^;)
