性差別　ーー　男の脳、女の脳

森会長が今日辞任するようです。女性蔑視の発言が発端です。「すぐ辞めようとしたんだけど、止められた」とか。そんな、人の意見に左右されるような人には見えませんけどね。謝罪しようが、発言を取り消そうが、彼がそう思っている、あるいは世間の支配的な層（主に男性）の意見を反していることには代わりありません（きっと権力同士の闘いや財閥との関係などを書いた「暴露本」がいつか出るんでしょうね）。

いま、『一流の頭脳』の書評（感想文）を書いています。この本でも、「男性の脳と女性の脳」との差が記載されています。「男性の脳の平均値1350グラム（平均的な女性の脳の重さはそれより約100グラム軽い）」（P.31）と。昔からある表現です。これは検証され（続け）ているのでしょうか。この文章の前後を含めて引用します。

「脳細胞の数や脳の大きさで脳のよし悪しが決まると信じる人がいる。だが、それは誤りだ。（LF）もっともわかりやすい例として、アルベルト・アインシュタインを挙げてみよう。アインシュタインの脳は、平均的な脳より大きくも重くもなかった。重さは1230グラムで、男性の脳の平均値1350グラム（平均的な女性の脳の重さはそれより約100グラム軽い）よりも軽かった。」

「脳の良し悪しと大きさとは関係ない」と言うための平均の記載です。この本自体が、「老化による脳の萎縮」や「脳の相補性」「新しい脳細胞の発生」について書いているのです。「脳細胞の数や脳の大きさは関係ない」ということとは矛盾するか、「女性は頭が悪い」といっているかどちらかだ、と捉えられても仕方ないんじゃないでしょうか。他の本では男女の身長差もよく話題に登ります。コーカソイドとネグロイド、モンゴロイドとの差が書かれることもあります。ネアンデルタール人との差が描かれることもあります。[1]

彼は進化論（自然淘汰）の話をよく持ち出します。「生存に有利だった」「遺伝子を残すのに有利だった」等の論証の仕方です。それなら、まず行わなければならないのは、「身長と脳の大きさの関係」の調査じゃないでしょうか。脳は、空間感覚の役目があると書いてあります。ならば、体の大きさと、その制御の必要性は関係があるはずです。竹馬に乗ったときに「世界が変わって見える」でしょう。そして、そのせいで身体動作が困難になることも経験、予測できるはずです。「あと10センチ背が高かったら（あるいは低かったら）、世界が変わって見えるんだろうなあ」と思ったことはありませんか。ハイヒールを履いたときと履かないときには見える世界や心のもち方に違いがあるでしょう。

第一、体の大きさが違うのに、脳の大きさ（頭の大きさ）が変わらなければ、「頭でっかち」に見えますよね。[2]小さな体に大きな脳、これこそ進化論上の不都合じゃないでしょうか。

男性の脳と女性の脳の違いとしてあげられるのは、重さだけじゃなく「右脳・左脳の違い」と「脳梁の太さ」です。前者は言語能力や芸術性、数学的思考や論理性、などと関連付けられます。後者は右脳・左脳の関連性の強さです。森さんの発言の根拠にもなるものです。「女性はおしゃべりが多くて、論理性が低い」というわけです。

今回の森騒動で、森さんを批判する人が多くいて、それが「力となった」ことは間違いありません。とても嬉しいです。でも、森さんを批判する人の中にも「女はよくお喋りをするなあ」と思っている人は多んじゃないでしょうか[3]。

私も、女性はよく喋ると思っていました。そして女性には言葉では負けると（私は必要なこと以外を喋らない方です。やばいですね）。あるいは、「女性はよく気がつく。女性には隠し事が難しい。」とか。そして、それを説明するために「女性同士の人間関係」「女性がおかれている社会状況」等を考えました。何でも説明「らしきこと」はつくのです。ある事実に因果関係（つじつま）を求める点ではハンセン氏と変わらないわけです[4]。

私は、背が小さくて（肉体的な）力が弱い男性です。それがコンプレックスでした。「小さければ、弱ければ、頑張って、努力して強くなれ」と言われ続けてきました。女性はどうでしょう。「女に学問はいらない」「女は愛嬌、男は度胸」なんて言葉は決して古い言葉なんかじゃありません。「頭のいい女性は煙たがられる。だから、可愛い女でいるにはちょっとヌケている感じがいい」とかを実践している（若い）女性も多いんじゃないでしょうか。「可愛い女性」「きれいな女性」でいるために洋服を選んだり、化粧をするのは多くの女性にとって当たり前なんじゃないでしょうか（最近は男性にもそういう傾向があります）。そして、「女性は弱いんだから、頑張って努力しなくっちゃ」と言われ、思っているんじゃないでしょうか。

私は、ブルース・リーやジャッキー・チェンが大好きです（古いですね。最近ならブルース・ウィルス？）。強くなりたかったのです（モテたかった）。でも、そのための努力はできませんでした。強くなる（敵に対して有利になる）だけなら、ヌンチャクやナイフ、スタンガンや拳銃を持つほうが簡単です。強いというのは肉体的なものではないと言われるかもしれません。そうだとしましょう。お金はどうですか。お金と言っても大抵は親の財産ですよね。二世議員や二世タレント、批判されたり「さすがだね」と言われたりします[5]。

社会ダーウィニズムですね。「優生学」でもあります。

これらからくる今の欧米や日本の考え方のひとつに「ムダ」は不要でなくすべきだというのがあります。「食料（食品）のムダ」とか言われると、なかなか否定しにくいですよね（私のような老人はムダな存在かもしれません）。それを資本主義社会が生み出しているのは明らかです。「お金の無駄遣い」というのは、貨幣社会（商品社会）だからあることです。

本当にムダは必要ないのでしょうか。人間を含め、生き物に個性があるのはなぜでしょう。進化論的な考え方でいえば、「種の個性の部分は種の存続に関係がない無駄な部分だ」ということになるでしょう[6]。自然はムダを許さないのでしょうか、あるいは個性は捨てるべきでみんな同じ必要最小限になればいいのでしょうか。

違うでしょうね。生物にとって種の中の個の違い、種同士の差異が、つまり多様性が種や生物界全体の存続に必要なのです[7]。自然はムダを許します。いや、それが自然にとって必要なこと、自然そのものといえます。そして、それが人間にとっては自由の条件です。他人と違うことがなければ、自由は（必要、あるいは存在理由が）ないのは明らかですね。そして平等、優劣がないことです。あなたは私の存在条件だからです。花は蝶の、蝶はトンボの存在条件です。もちろんその逆もいえます。

あまりにも当たり前のことを書いているので、ムダなように思えてきました。（笑）

でも、これは私自身への問いでもあるので、そのことを書かせてください。市民運動や社会運動、女性解放運動や自然保護運動などで「今の社会はおかしい」＝＞「こういう社会であるべきだ」[8]の「べき」の部分がどうにも道徳（倫理）臭い。[9]「健康であるべきだ」とか「砂糖は控えるべきだ」というのも同じです。そのためには努力しなければならない、何かを犠牲にしなければならない、というのでは運動は広がらないと思うのです。数で達成できたとしても、他の要因で達成できたとしても、それが覆されてきたのが有史以来の人間の歴史だと思うからです。「性悪説」はなくなりません[10]。ニーチェ（『善悪の彼岸』）は「ニヒリズム」ではありません。「べき」を問うただけです。私も「べき」を問うてきました。結論めいたものはありません。ただ、中間的な想いが上記のことです。科学万能主義、科学至上主義、いや科学絶対主義（合理主義、論理主義）の中で「べき」を超える方法は合理的、論理的であるしかないように思っています。それは不可能なことかもしれません。私はこれらの問題の根本要因は「文字にある」と思っています。ですから、それは文字批判を文字で行うことです。ニーチェが哲学で、哲学そのものを批判したように。マルクスが資本の言葉で、資本を批判したように。そして、ニーチェはナチスに利用され、マルクスは国家社会主義（ナチスではありません）を生み出しました。

多分、もっと深いところを問わなければならないのでしょう。私にとってはそれが「文字という仮説」です。それはあくまで仮のものであって、それが真実だということではありません。たぶん「真実」そのものを問う必要があるのです。その仮説を通して見たときに、いろいろなものが見えてくるような気がするのです。

Is there really no need for waste? Why do living things, including humans, have individuality? Does nature not tolerate waste, or should individuality be abandoned and everyone should have the same minimum requirements?
