しかし、EUが目指しているものはわかっても、そこにすんでいる人々が何を目指しているのかは別であり、この本では不明である。世界経済の中で、EUが目指しているものに、そこに住む人々が巻き込まれていることはわかるが。
ヨーロッパ連合、それは、大きな自由主義国家である。そこにおいて、民族の文化や少数者がどのように扱われてゆくのだろうか。ヨーロッパ共同体は、個々の共同体の破壊のような気がしてならない。わたしは決してそれを歓迎しない。
EUが進む道、それは世界が進む方向の一つの指標であることは確かである。

It is certain that the way the EU goes, that is one indicator of the direction the world goes.
